A Fearies dream

Long ago, once upon a time
Lived a faerie princess, her soul divine
She longed to live in the world above
To live a mortal life and find her true love
But for faeries to be mortal, they need to lose their wings
She couldn't dream of doing such a thing
She wept at night and cried all day
For she knew there was no other way
On a magical day at the lake of enchantment
She looked across the water and her prayers were answered
Standing there was a beautiful man
From sunrise to sunset they played, laughed and danced
She knew unless she was human she would have to leave him behind
Her heart broke in two as she made up her mind
Smiling, she kissed him with her soft faerie lips
Her whole body tingled, from her toes to her fingertips
Together they walked slowly back to his home
In the dim candlelight she knew she was no longer alone
She offered herself up and they made love through the night
When the sun crept into the room she had a terrible fright
Adorning the walls were the wings of all creatures
He had taken from them their one defining feature
She cowered in fear as the man grabbed a large knife
His intention to end her sad faerie life
Pinning her down he tore the blade through her wings
Her immortality gone with one painful swing
After the torture, she was flung out through the door
She cried and she cried as she bled out on the floor
The one thing she'd have given up for the sake of true love
Was the only thing the man wanted, his evil untouched
Everyday since then she's sat by the enchanted lake
Wishing to go back to her faerie kingdom, and to forget her mistake
But now she was mortal, with no happy ending
Her heart was in pieces with no chance of mending
Her soul became broken she could take it no more
She needed to end it, of this she was sure
Climbing the tallest tree in the middle of the forest
She flung herself off, no longer feeling filthy and unblessed
Quickly her body hurtled straight into the ground
Snapping her neck with a frightening sound
For the first time in her life she was finally at peace
From her terrible fate, her soul was released
Even in death, she can still hear his manic laughter
But her soul is at ease, for she found her happily ever after
