I trace his face
With my fingers.
I've memorised
Every crevice,
Every part of him.
We sit in the dark,
Hearing nothing but each other.
I listen to his breathing,
He listens to my heart beating.
He reaches up,
Brushes the hair out of my eyes,
Tells me I'm beautiful,
Tells me he loves me,
And I believe him,
God knows I believe him.
We lay together,
Our feet tangled,
Enjoying each other's presence,
Enjoying the sensation of touching,
Of being touched, by one another.
He looks at me,
Smiles.
I smile back, realising
It doesn't matter
What else is going on in my life, because
I'm happy once again.
